I don't think they do. Since THE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES ARCHIVE Vol. 12 was released on April 9th, I thought it would be appropriate to bump my thread about its April release on THE LEGION Message Board. So I found it 22 pages down, and updated it with the links to the three threads from the ARCHIVE Board about it. It was possibly read by someone, or not, but it quickly faded off of page one without a single comment. I wonder, since I haven't been tracking it, if the same reaction greets the other Archives on the various subject/character boards as Silver Age Green Lantern, Captain Marvel/Shazam, Wonder Woman, Hawkman, etc. are announced, and then released. Maybe the Superman and Batman forums have some buzz, but I haven't researched it yet. I wonder why, particularly on The LEGION Board, the news of LSH Vol. 12 was met with such apathy. I thought Legion Fans were some of the most vocal in the entire DC. Are we tunnel-visioned while at the same time broad-scoped on this board? For a fact, we are at a minimum, mostly concered with "what was," moreso than "what is." But quite a few of us, too, are readers of the current releases in the floppy format. I suppose we have more balance than some of the other boards. IP: Logged |

I think this is evidence that there is not a lot of overlap between those who read the comic and those who read the Archive. In my opinion, the vast majority of people who buy any monthly comic are either not interested in the corresponding Archive or mildly interested, but turned off by the price. Having said that, I read both versions of Legion as well as other titles. I'm not necessarily less interested in "what is." However, I'm about 6 months behind schedule, so "what is" for eveyone else is "what will be" for me, so I avoid those discussions. I'm also not impressed with the discussions on the other boards. I spend too much time reading comics and too much time here. While I can enjoy some of the more juvenile threads on other boards, and have enjoyed some of the sillier threads here, the percentage of these threads is just too high for me to spend any time on those boards. To be honest, if I'm interested in an Archive, I come to this forum to talk about it. So I wouldn't really be looking to talk about the latest archive on the Legion board [and it doesn't help that I have most, if not all, of the Legion comics being archived atm, so there's little new for me to talk about anyhow... ]IP: Logged |

quote: Being a fan of the current Legion series doesn't mean that a current reader cares about the Legion's history. As a matter of fact, I'd argue that more often than not it means the exact opposite, since the current Legion replaced the pre-existing Legion. Most of the fans who supported the preboot Legion simply aren't around anymore. IP: Logged |

I think the only board where there's profound overlap is the JSA board--which is actually the progenitor of this board. IP: Logged |

Hmm, I doubt it. If they want to talk about Archives, they usually come here. Though the Doom patrol forum talked about the DP archive more than most other forums talked about their archives. (I am a buyer of monthlies and archives. Though buying said monthlies doesn't let me get as many archives as I'd like). IP: Logged |

A new Shazam Archive is always cause for celebration over on the Captain Marvel board. One or more threads are started immediately with review and discussion of the just-released Archive. Any appearance by the Captain or his Marvel Family within the DC universe titles quickly becomes a topic on the message board as well. Cap's fans are as fast as lightning. IP: Logged |
